Category: Field Visit to Herbal/Botanical Garden for the Subject of Pharmacognosy

On February 9, 2026, at 10:00 AM, 56 students from the D.Pharm 1st Year(Part I) batch of the School of Pharmacy, The Assam Kaziranga University, conducted an educational field visit to the Herbal and Botanical Garden of ICFRE-RFRI in Sotai, Jorhat. This visit was organized as a mandatory academic requirement for the subject of Pharmacognosy, aimed at providing students with tangible, real-world insights into the botanical sources of drugs they study in the classroom.

The visit was facilitated by a dedicated team from the School of Pharmacy, including Dr Neelutpal Gogoi, Mr Dibyojyoti Sarmah, Miss Karisma Borah, Miss Krishna Gogoi, and Mr Dhononjoy Gowalla. The group was received and guided by the expert coordinators from ICFRE-RFRI: Sh. Rajib Kr. Kalita (Head, Extension Division), Dr Tajum Doni (Sc-C), and Sh. Ashis Kr. Dutta (Technician). These experts provided in-depth explanations regarding the classification, cultivation, and unique morphological features of a wide variety of herbal and aromatic plants.
